We recently moved 25 minutes from the beach and this girl needs some sun! Beach wheelchairs are so expensive, and we’re just now starting to get back on our feet after the tragedy that nearly took this piece of pure sunlight out of our lives. I was out of work for 8 1/2 months while I stayed by her side as she fought to live, and then fought to heal. Her humor and the love she pours out never skipped a beat. I’m trying to get enough funds together to get her a beach wheelchair and a sun cover for it so she can enjoy the ocean that is so close! Even handicap accessible beaches don’t have a way to get all the way to the water unless you rent or borrow a beach wheelchair. They are first come, first served so most of the time they aren’t available and renting one is astronomical 💸 When you are able to get one, they are usually in poor repair and don’t have elevated legs which she needs.

This sweet girl was in a horrific car accident 9 months ago and the seat that she was belted into was ejected from the car and thrown 100ft up the street. Due to a torn carotid artery from the seatbelt, she suffered a massive right hemisphere stroke, along with multiple broken bones, had 3 brain surgeries (two of them emergent) and 10 other surgeries, was unable to move anything except her right arm. She couldn’t even lift her head. They told us there was nothing left they could do for her, and that we were going to lose her. They told us she would be 100% paralyzed on the left side, and that she would never move that side of her body again. They told us that her brain was dead tissue and that we wouldn’t get our miracle. THEY WERE WRONG!! She IS a miracle, and she continues to amaze us and is regaining movement! Every day is a battle and every day is painful. She deserves to be able to go to the beach and look for seashells and I’m trying to make that a reality for her🐚
