I've stood by my husband through 38 beautiful years, and now we're facing one of our toughest challenges yet. When he was diagnosed with the beginning stages of dementia, our lives changed, and I found myself taking on new roles every day to support us both. We're in Denver, trying to make ends meet with just SSDI, but the reality is that it's often not enough. Our routine revolves around his daily needs, from medication management to simply being there for him in every moment.
We've learned to live minimally, cherishing the simple joys of our days together. But honestly, any more losses could leave us without essentials like food, a roof over our heads, or the transportation we rely on for his appointments. The thought of losing what little stability we have is overwhelming. Yet, despite the uncertainty, I hold onto the love and memories we've shared over the years.
