We are here to tell you, our daughter’s story of how she was in a very abusive & toxic marriage for over 18 years. She was controlled, isolated, and brainwashed to believe he would take her children if she did anything other than what he told her to do . There were years of financial withholding among other forms of coercion and abuse. She is currently in counseling & on her healing journey physically and emotionally, since all this put her in a state of fight or flight her whole relationship with him.
Several other traumatic things occurred since their separation a year ago, and she spent the summer alienated from her children whom she has made her entire purpose to show them love and safety.
She had to hire a lawyer that she couldn’t afford, because he left her with all the marital debt, but she was willing to do anything to get her kids back as well as provide them with normalcy & a nurturing environment.She was able to have a court grant her temporary orders to get them back two weeks each month, which was a huge win. Unfortunately, in the permanent order hearing in November, she gave her testimony about past abuse and financial withholding and the courts basically sided with her Ex on January 23, 2026 and she will receive nothing of value.
She and her 3 children are now expected to vacate the home she purchased and has made all of the mortgage payments for since the purchase in February of 2024.
The other unfortunate part of the story is that she was injured working as a nurse on the ortho surgical floor August 31, 2024 ~ she ruptured the lower discs in her back and was put on a fixed income with Work Comp. Emilee then had back surgery on April 11, 2025 and has had a long, difficult recovery with all of the stress and trying to maintain a home on her own that her Ex left her with all of the marital debt and now barely any financial support for the children. She has been in fight or flight and has an autoimmune disease from everything she has lived through the last 18 years.
Our hope is that we can raise money to help her start a new life with her brand new infant son & her teenagers. Colorado rent and/or mortgage are very expensive as are utilities and living expenses. She cannot relocate because of sharing custody with her ex, he wouldn’t allow them to move somewhere out of state so she is stuck in a very hard situation. She is in need due to having to start completely over and will receive nothing from her home sale for all equity will go to the debt he built up.
Our daughter endured what no one should ever have to and we are just so thankful she is finally out of that abusive situation.
Her strength is admirable & We are so proud of her for dedicating her life to being a wonderful mother and a compassionate nurse…She is passionate about both and needs our help at this time in her life to rebuild a future she and her children deserve.
