Supporting my mother through her medical battles was both an honor and a challenge I embraced wholeheartedly. Watching her struggle with her heart condition was tough, but knowing she needed me kept me going. To make sure she received proper care, I tapped into my 401K, insurance, and savings. Unfortunately, beneath the mounting medical bills, we also discovered a large tax debt with the IRS. Despite my best efforts, these financial burdens grew beyond what I could manage alone.
When my mother passed away, I found myself facing not only the grief of her loss but also a precarious financial situation. My savings were depleted, leaving me without the means to secure a stable home for myself. At a time when I should be settling into retirement, I am navigating homelessness and insolvency here in Santa Rosa, where I hoped to enjoy my eventual golden years.
