Brayden and his family could use some help . He was born with a rare condition that has caused many hospitalizations, with lots of unknowns and no answers until July of 22 when that all changed. The family had heard from a doctor in DC who could help him. They went down for a week long program and in three days, this doctor had answers and a treatment for him. In November he was scheduled for two major surgeries that would be life changing for him and his family. These surgeries required them to stay in the DC area for a minimum of three months. He had a couple complications during the recovery time and had to have two more surgeries. The family was separated for two of those three months due to needing to make ends meet. They were finally able to be home with their loved ones in late January. Bray was able to start preschool in February and things were going great finally. But come April Bray had his SP tube yanked by another kid at school causing the tube to fail along with pulling the sutures that held it in place. Which caused him to go into retention once again. He had to have an emergency foley placed so he could be safely transferred back to DC to receive care and surgery to correct it. He will have to have a new channel created, a new tube placed and they will have to scope his bladder to see the extent of the damage done. Once again the family had to separate. This time around Bray is having a really hard time with it. Dad has remained home to work and bring in two incomes. But if we could lighten their burden just a little it will allow dad and Adam to travel there and be by his side through this surgery and recovery. Let’s make his wish come true and allow him to heal faster with his family by his side. As everyone knows we are stronger together.

Team Bray
Bray and his family are still here in DC, their stay here has been a lot longer than expected due to complications. Bray is having a lot of difficulty with pain and spasms yet. He had to have more imaging done today to check the tubes trajectory into the bladder and to look for any areas of concerns, he also had cultures taken earlier in the week looking for signs of infection. His culture showed growth and was sent for further testing on bacteria type(s) so they can treat it best. Bray and his family could use continued thoughts and prayers, they are hoping to avoid inpatient hospitalization but if he shows no improvement in the next couple days the team is looking to admit.

Team Bray
Bray had his surgery Wednesday and all went well. They were hoping to be able to come home by the weekend. Unfortunately Bray, mom and Adam are going to be in DC longer than expected. As Bray has been having terrible bladder spasms since surgery. The team believes it’s just a readjustment period to the tube being back in his bladder after it being out for so long and are trying to make him comfortable and have the right pain control before they can return home. They have been trying to keep positive and find things to do that are low key to allow Bray to rest and recover. He is a champ though and is still wearing a smile! He has made some good friends that he has been determined to get up and move so he can play with them despite the pain he’s had.
