A year ago, I stepped out of prison with a deep resolve to rebuild my life. Leaving behind an abusive relationship and overcoming substance abuse was an emotional journey filled with countless challenges and moments of growth. In those early days, I often felt overwhelmed, but my determination never wavered. Today, living in Hartford, Connecticut, I've managed to secure a full-time job, which was a huge milestone in getting my life back on track.
Reconnecting with my kids means the world to me, and it's been a driving force in my recovery. I recently bought a car, a key step in ensuring I could be there for them consistently. Every precious journey I make to see them fills my heart with a profound sense of purpose and hope, reminding me of why I fought so hard to start anew.
Being part of the recovery community is where I draw much of my strength. It's a place where I find support and also give back to others traveling similar paths. Each meeting is a reminder that I'm not alone and that healing often comes through shared experiences and empathy.
Despite these positive steps, balancing everyday expenses like gas, groceries, and school supplies has been daunting. My job helps, but it’s challenging to stretch every dollar as far as it needs to go. Keeping up with everything necessary to support my kids and myself sometimes feels like an uphill battle.
I'm reaching out for help to cover these essential costs as I try to maintain the stability I've worked so hard to achieve. Every day presents new opportunities, and with a little extra help, I’m hopeful for a brighter future—a future where my past struggles don’t overshadow the potential of what can be.
