On Saturday, September 3, 2022 we lost the Patriach of the Thame Family, Carl Thame Sr.
Carl was born on April 14, 1940 in Kingston, Jamaica, where he lived until moving to England to attend the prestigious Oxford University. Carl graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree and went on to teach for several years before moving back to the US to work for General Motors.
Carl was 'Daddy' to Carl Jr. [Sherna], Hyacinth [Steve], Calvin [Carmen], Mark [Kathleen], Yvette, Aaron & Monique and 'Grandpa/Papa Carl' to Kiara, Andrew, Kristian, Dylan, Mason, Logan, Carissa, Justin and Austin.
Carl always emphasized the importance of education to his children and grand-children, so when our family starting looking into charities that would reflect his values best, we chose the Intellectual Foundation of Jamaica. The Intellectual Foundation of Jamaica is an independent, educational charitable organization whose primary purpose is to empower students and influence the growth of high-quality education in the most underserved sections of Jamaica’s secondary education system. We know Carl would be proud in knowing that it made a difference for a poor child's future, changing their outcome from bleak to prosperous.
We are grateful for your love and support during this difficult time.
Love,
The Thame Family
