Today I am writing this piece on behalf of the organization that I belong to. I came here to tell the story of two of the young men in the mentorship program who happen to be fraternal twins and their little brother. Recently, there family was struck with an unforeseen tragedy as the mother of these three young men has abruptly passed away. With no father figure present every functional adult knows what this means for the boys and how difficult it is going to be. Amazingly, these young men have not missed a beat and they are still managing to be incredible leaders on campus and in the community. I had a conversation with the two young men and expressed to them how honored and proud I was of the way they are carrying themselves and how impressive it is that they can overcome such incredible adversity at such a young age. This circumstance seems insurmountable for someone of their stature but these young men make it seem easy. We all know how difficult something like this can be, so I promised them that I will use my platform to help them in their time of need.
I am only one person, however I understand the power of community and that a simple gesture can start the snowball effect and create an avalanche of good.
