A little more than 10 years ago, I began a personal quest to establish a permanent home to document, archive, preserve and celebrate the global evolution of Hip Hop History and Culture. On May 20th, 2021, the Universal Hip Hop Museum officially broke ground at the Bronx Point in the Mott Haven community of the South Bronx, not far from where DJ Kool Herc held the first Hip Hop party on August 11th, 1973.
Hip Hop legends such as LL Cool J, Nas, Fat Joe, Sha Rock, Slick Rick, Grandmaster Flash, Chuck D, and Debbie D were there to support Hip Hop's future home where each of their legacies will be properly preserved and celebrated.
The Universal Hip Hop Museum's 52,000 square foot building will open in 2024 and will be one of the most innovative and culturally informative museum's in the world. It takes a tremendous amount of resources to build a cultural institution whose mission is dedicated to the celebration of both local and global Hip Hop music and culture. But with your help and support the Universal Hip Hop Museum will be able to share Hip Hop's greatest treasures, programs, and stories with the world. All donations will have a significant impact on the museum's development.
