Hi. My name is Lily Barfield, and I am Miss Central Georgia’s Outstanding Teen 2020. I will be competing for Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen in June of 2021. My first trip to Miss Georgia was when I was 8 years old, and I was asked to be a princess for a Miss Georgia candidate. It was the best week of my young life, and I went back two more times in the Princess program. Since that very first trip, I knew I wanted to compete in the Miss Georgia program.
I have finally gotten my chance this year, and I could not be more excited! Not only will I have the opportunity to earn a scholarship to help pay for college, but I also get to promote my platform titled Growing America’s Future Through Agriculture Education. I joined FFA in the 6th grade, and I have been a devoted member ever since. I am also a member of the 4-H in my local community. Through these agriculture programs, I have been able to learn the value of hard work, dedication, and pride in a job well done. I show pigs through the FFA, and I am an officer for my high school chapter. I am on the 4-H shotgun competition team, and I spend every opportunity I can to volunteer in the community with both programs.
I found a place where I feel accepted and included when I joined FFA and 4-H, so I want to become an agriculture teacher and teach our future students the benefits of these programs and the importance of agriculture for the world’s population. I believe in the future of agriculture, and I believe in the future of our young women in Georgia, but we need your help to raise money for our scholarship program. You can help me and other young women across our great state by donating to the Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen scholarship program at the link below.
