BONJOUR!
- High Performance
- Driven
- Redemption
- SUCCESS!
Read on to learn about our stellar elementary kiddos who became chess champions!
We are the..
Santa Rosa French American Charter School Chess Club!
We are a small, public, bi-lingual (French/English) program located in Sonoma County California, nicknamed SRFACS. We have a special super power! We are CHESS CHAMPIONS!
In 2024, under guidance from our teachers JP Ehrhold and Ludovic Pallanca, our elementary team won FIRST Place at the AEFE (Agence pour l'Enseignement de la France à l'Étranger or "Agency for French Education Abroad") Chess Tournament in Boston. This is like the big leagues for serious elementary chess players!
Our redemption story began the previous year when we took second place earning a coveted spot to play at a chess championship in France. Unfortunately, we were not able to participate. However, our public elementary Sonoma County kids competed a few months ago against students from prestigious private schools located in Boston, San Diego, Chicago and New Jersey....and we WON!
Every year the French Chess Federation organizes the national school chess championship in France. When our elementary chess team won, we earned the right to represent the North American zone- beating out more than 25 other schools!
We are raising funds so that our team can take part in the FINAL of the French Scholastic Chess Championships, and maybe bring home gold!
YOUR donations will help us cover costs for 10 Chess Champs and 2 SRFACS Teacher Chaperones related to:
