Hey everyone,
I share this with a heavy heart after receiving devastating news from my family back home. On December 26th, violent gangs that have been terrorizing Haiti began moving into rural areas and attacking innocent people in the communities where my family is from, Saint-Marc. During these attacks, my family lost everything from my grandmother’s home to some of my aunts’ home. This violence has also taken lives in the most senseless ways. One of my uncle's was shot simply for being on the phone with someone. My father’s cousin and his wife were murdered in their sleep after being struck by stray bullets. Others in our community were killed in acts of extreme brutality that no human being should ever have to endure. This tragedy has left multiple members of my family and community dead, while others are now on foot, fleeing with their children and desperately searching for safety. My aunts are currently traveling with no clear destination, no stable shelter, and very limited access to food. They don’t know where to go or how to receive help. Right now, they are simply trying to survive. I am humbly asking for any support you are able to give. Even one dollar can help provide food and temporary shelter for my family as they continue to search for safety. Every donation, share, and prayer means more than I can put into words.
