My son, Jevan was stopped growing at age 11 at 5.3' tall after his pediatrician determined that he had entered puberty early at age 9. However, the doctor failed to inform us that there were medications that could slow down the puberty. His age is 21. When he comes home from work, he asks me where his growth spurs went and why I didn't get one. He has been sad since high school and says that if I live with height, I don't want to live any longer.
All I want as a mother is for him to be happy and have a bright future, yet at this age, he lacks confidence and motivation.
He is currently attending college and works as a waiter, but he still lives with me because he has no friends. Despite his excellent nature as a child, his height has caused him to become depressed and low self-esteem. After consulting with his doctor, he learned that growth hormone won't help and that only limb lengthening will, but it's quite expensive, which we can't afford it.
I'm hoping someone will support us on this journey, and I have no doubt that after he reaches an average adult height, he will feel much better about himself and be able to assist others once he's more established and strong.
