Every so often, we encounter a soul that leaves an indelible mark on our hearts. During a recent trip to the beautiful Little Corn Island, I met a courageous island dog who captured my heart. She followed us back to our resort from across the island, instantly becoming a part of our journey. Life on the island, while breathtaking, is filled with challenges for many dogs. With no full-time veterinary care and food scarcity, survival is an everyday struggle. Unlike many of her canine kin who have a community to care for them, my little friend is alone, facing threats from larger dogs and enduring nights without a safe place to rest or a decent meal. Since coming back to Indiana, I have been determined to give her the loving home she deserves. The journey ahead is complex, involving flights from Little Corn to Big Corn, then to Managua, and finally to the U.S. She also needs immediate veterinary care and a health certificate for safe importation.
