It is often an uncomfortable feeling to ask others for help.  We are starting this fund for Elise’s Recovery Journey with the hopes of supporting her not only spiritually but financially.  As many of you know, in December of 2020 Elise endured a life-changing car accident.

After being taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital she had multiple surgeries that same night with a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula in one leg with the bone breaking through, broken bones in the other leg, and bleeding in the brain (For reference, this was the same break suffered by Tiger Woods and Alex Smith).  Due to covid restrictions she was only able to see my parents briefly before surgery.

Not long after her surgery it was discovered that she had an infection in one of her bones, which had turned into MRSA.  This resulted in another surgery and multiple rounds of antibiotics including a pick line in her arm for six weeks.

Although she had her good days and bad days with pain, she was on the road to recovery for over a year. This was shortly sidetracked when she had another flareup of MRSA.  This next round required surgery to scrape out any dead or infected bone, followed by a second surgery of taking a bone graft from the hip and putting it in the ankle.  This resulted in a second pick line in her arm and continuous doctor’s visits.  She is currently in a halo with 16 rods holding the bones into place for a 4–6-month recovery.

We are so grateful that she was ok and in good spirits.  Anyone that has followed her journey will see the strength and determination she has.  She still has good and bad days, but it is amazing to see her positivity with what she has gone through.  Although she has insurance, her medical bills are quite substantial.  One of her surgeries was over $100,000.00.  We are asking family, friends, and the community to rally behind her and support her by relieving some of her medical debt.  We are incredibly grateful for any donations.  Thank you all for taking the time to read about her journey and for any support.
