The Nick's Round Table annual fundraising campaign for our Family Hope Bags is underway!

Your heartfelt financial contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference to the families of the Albany Medical Center pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Your contribution will directly supply the funds needed to assemble the Hope bags.

The Hope Bag includes hygiene items, gift cards for food and gas, a journal, candy, helpful and supportive information, motivational cards and more.  The average bag cost is approximately $180.  No matter your contribution amount you are making a huge difference in the lives of the patients and their families as they embark on their cancer journey.

The Hope Bags emerged from the collective experience of parents who navigated the challenges of a child's cancer diagnosis. Recognizing the importance of easing the transition into this daunting journey, they conceived the idea of bags stocked with essentials for hospital stays. Yet these bags are more than mere provisions, they embody HOPE, COMPASSION, and STRENGTH.  The bag serves as a tangible reminder that a supportive community stands by their side.

Each bag embodies the heartfelt dedication of fellow parents who have walked this path to courageous young adults who have battled cancer themselves, to dedicated volunteers touched by the impact of cancer, all united by a sincere desire to lend a helping hand. We aim for families to find solace in knowing they are not alone in this journey.

Family testimonial:

"Less than two weeks after her 5th birthday, we brought our daughter to Urgent Care thinking she might have appendicitis- instead, Regan ended up being transferred and then admitted to Albany Medical Center where, after a whirlwind of pokes and prods and tests and bloodwork, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Regan's father and I had no idea how long she would be in the hospital or what to expect or how to navigate her diagnosis. Not long after Regan was admitted to Albany Med, our family was introduced to the Melodies Center, their staff, and the (at the time red) Hope Bag. The Hope Bag had laundry detergent, gift cards to restaurants near the hospital, coloring books and crayons, information about childhood cancers, local resources, a phone charger, and many other useful things, (that I am forgetting so many years later), we didn't even know we needed.

The Hope Bag is perfectly named as it was a light during the most uncertain and dark time of our lives. It was a lifeline during that first inpatient stay, and not only that- it made us feel like we weren't alone during those lonely hours in that hospital room. Our Hope Bag still lives in our house and is one good memory from a not so great time in our lives.

As Regan was entering Middle School this past year, she decided to volunteer with Nick's Round Table because, "the Hope Baghelped me when I was sick, it's important for other kids too"."

These are remarkable teens who consistently show up, not for recognition or reward, but simply to make a difference. Month after month, they volunteer their time, energy, and hearts to give back to their community. They bring smiles to families facing difficult times while spreading joy and kindness.

Together with Maddie's Mark, we thank you for your support.
