I'm thrilled to report that I've been accepted to a cancer survivors adventure in Maine, at the L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Center. The program is through Epic Experience, a reputable organization known for providing super awesome outdoor experiences for those affected by cancer. Their waitlists are typically thousands of people long, so I'm very surprised I got in!
The program will be held mid-September, and attendees are asked to fundraise the $300 requested donation to participate in the program. I know the following is presumptuous of me, but so many of you offered to help that I've included in this fundraising goal the cost of flights, which of course are very high right now, lodging for the night before the program starts so that I can get to the program rendezvous point on time, and if any is left over I will use it for a rental car to drive a few hours north after the program, to see my second cousin and her husband for a few days.
I'll copy what I wrote in my CaringBridge post, as I'm not sure I can word it any better at this point: I'm ever so grateful for whatever you would like to contribute, but truly each of you has done more for me than I could ever have asked, and in so many different ways, big and small, all critical to getting me through some pretty tumultuous years. Thank you so much in advance for considering this, and keeping up with my story, such as it is as my health becomes more stable.
