I am on active duty in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I am currently on leave in order to make some money to continue my work in Ukraine. We do get paid, but my entire salary doesn't even cover the airfare or necessary safety equipment.
So why do it? Because Ukraine simply cannot get enough drones and drone pilots. The more flying robots we put up in the sky, the fewer people we need to send crawling around in the hazard area. And drones have proven highly effective in persuading the occupiers to surrender or desert and in this way, drones are saving Russian lives as well.
