I’m Jerry Schmidt, my wife, Doreen, and I have lived in Spur for 24 years. We have raised our two sons here and are now enjoying our five grandchildren. We are active members of the Spur Methodist Church. After prayerful consideration, I’m seeking the position of Dickens County Sheriff. 
 
I’ve served on the Spur Housing Authority Board, City Council, and the Volunteer Fire Department. I’m currently a volunteer ambulance driver for Dickens County EMS. I was in the U.S. Air Force for eleven years and the Texas National Guard for nine years, which included four tours to the Middle East. In 2021, I retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety after fourteen years as a Highway Patrol Trooper. 
 
The Dickens County Sheriff’s Office should be constitutionally based, responsive, accountable to its citizens, and proactive against crime. As the Dickens County Sheriff I will continue my commitment to our community and improve the culture of policing. I would appreciate your vote and your financial support.
