A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador's Pacific coast over the weekend, killing 350 and injuring more than 2,500. At least 370 buildings were destroyed.
The quake is the strongest to hit Ecuador in decades.
Approximately 10,000 military troops and 3,500 police had been sent by Ecuador's government to respond to the quake. In some cases, local responders seemed to lack the equipment they needed in order to respond.
Aid has poured into Ecuador from Mexico, Spain, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela, Peru and other countries.
In the U.S., UNICEF has taken a lead role in providing relief aid to help earthquake victims.
