In 2019, Nick Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 25 years. He is currently seeking a new trial through a Habeas Corpus petition. If granted, the funds raised through this Spotfund account will be allocated to secure a skilled federal attorney of his choice—one who will advocate on his behalf with the utmost dedication. Nick should not have to rely on a state-appointed attorney once again, simply due to his financial limitations; he has the right to choose his legal representation.
This is the primary reason he requested this Spotfund account to be established one year ago. As he is unable to use commissary funds to hire outside legal counsel, external support is essential. If he is unable to raise the necessary funds for his preferred attorney by the time they are needed, the funds will be used at Nick’s discretion. He may request the balance to be transferred to his commissary account for immediate personal needs, saved for post-release expenses, or used for future legal representation in his filings.
For the past nine years, many have profited from Nick's story on social media platforms without offering him any compensation or benefit. It is hoped that those profiting from his story, as well as others who wish to help, will consider donating.
