I was walking down the steps outside my apartment when my foot slipped on a patch of ice I didn’t see. I fell forward, and the corner of a metal railing caught me directly in the eye. The pain was instant and blinding. By the time I got to urgent care, my vision was blurry and the doctor told me I had torn tissue that would require surgery as soon as possible to prevent permanent damage.
The surgery is scheduled, but the cost hit me harder than the fall. Even with insurance, I need $1,000 to cover what they need upfront. I’ve been trying to handle everything on my own, but this is one of those moments where I have to ask for help. Anything toward that amount would get me one step closer to saving my eyesight.
