Friends and neighbors,
We often tell our children that the world is a fair place, but right now, for one young boy in our community, it is anything but.
Abel is a child who sees the world differently. He lives with autism, and like many children with his condition, he faces challenges that most of us will never fully understand. Following a tragic behavioral crisis at school this past August, Abel has been caught in the gears of a legal system that seems more interested in "making an example" of a disabled child than in finding the truth or providing care.
It is a heartbreaking reality that in our town, some adults who have been accused of harming children walk away with "slaps on the wrist," while a little boy with a disability is being treated like a hardened criminal.
Abel needs a voice. We are raising funds to cover his legal defense fees and to hire the specialized experts needed to explain his condition to a court that refuses to listen. No child should be a "scapegoat" for a broken system.
Please donate what you can to Abel’s legal fund. Even if you cannot donate, please share his story. Let’s show Abel—and the rest of Texas—that our community protects its children.
