My name is Sam. I lived in Ukraine during the invasion of 2014. I was currently in Ukraine during the current war, the current genocide. This country has given me so much and I was able to find my passion for teaching in Ukraine. When I joined Peace Corps back in September 2011, I had no idea Ukraine would soon become my second home. I immersed myself in Ukraine. I've made a lot of connections, taught a lot of students from all different ages, and worked with a lot of great people over the years. My heart breaks as many of them are in danger now, many have escaped, many are worried about their loved ones, many don't know if today will be there last. I can't stand or stop the genocide happening in Ukraine. The wonderful Ukrainians who have needlessly died, tortured, harassed, and raped simply because they are Ukrainian. The thing I can do is help support Ukraine more so, I'm organizing this month long fundraiser. For my birthday this year, I don't want any gifts or parties, I just want to help the Ukrainian Army and the Ukrainian people. Please donate anything you can and I will match it. For example if you donate $1 I will donate $1, if you donate $5 I will donate $5. I will donate 50% to the the Ukrainian Army and 50% to help people get medical supplies and/ or hot meals. Please share with friends. Keep Ukraine in your prayers. Keep supporting Ukraine and make sure everyone knows it's Ukraine without "The." Слава Україні! (Glory to Ukraine).
