Hi, my name is Luke Jimenez. I am currently a sophomore at California School for the Deaf, Riverside (CSDR). What makes Youth Leadership Camp (YLC) appealing? YLC is a four-week summer camp filled with deaf youth from all over the nation learning more about leadership, advocacy, and empowerment. And, I got accepted! It is a honor to be accepted because YLC accepts up to 64 campers.
I want to share a bit about myself. I found my passion in leadership since I became a freshman. During my first year in high school, I got involved with leadership organizations immediately. I was a Class of 2027 Treasurer and Skill USA. After that, I got involved sports: Football, Wrestling and Track n Field.
I want to pay forward by helping others to better within deaf, hearing of hearing and hearing communities. YLC will provide me to focus on developing and strengthening my leadership skills and I want to learn more about advocacy, empowerment and resources so I will be able to give back to the Deaf community. The Youth Leadership Camp will benefit me tremendously, both in the field of education and my future. Please help me reach the financial goal for the leadership tuition fee, camp expenses and airfare, which total 4,000 by May 30th, 2025. Your support will help me reach my goal to attend this unique and exciting camp experience!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and being part of this. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Luke Jimenez
