Please help us with our move; four months ago we moved, from the home we had lived in for many years, the home I brought babies home to, in an effort to save money to buy a forever home at the end of the 12-month lease I signed. The moving expense was huge, and the same week we moved I started a new job after being laid off and struggling to find work during Covid. Following the move came many more unexpected expenses with my vehicle overheating and needing $1,100 in repairs, driving my daughter's "new" 2002 first car that I bought her and had a blowout in while driving to work, two tickets a week later for not having the registration (we had just scheduled the appointment for this when she got the tickets, but she was still issued the tickets) and the repairs for her car to pass inspection, plus getting the insurance, getting the inspection, and the new title registration just added to the unexpected bills. During this time I started 2:4 of my young children in full-time daycare so I could go to work full-time, one of my children has disabilities, and there were no care facilities able to accommodate his needs, while my other child was too young/no availability to begin to care with her siblings, so I hired a caretaker for them while my oldest was in full-time summer college courses, and I went to work.
The home we moved into did not have A/C or water for 14 days, in 100*+ temperatures, and following that the only door we had access to enter the home was not working either and we were not able to get into the home for 3 days because of the lack of response by the property manager, and we were displaced adding more expenses. Our property manager was a nightmare and after 3 months of having never met her in person, she started to come to the home unannounced while I was at work, several times harassing my children, slamming the doors in the house while yelling and cursing, and eventually the police had to get involved. I had to retain an attorney to step in and represent me; we had to file complaints with the state's OAG Consumer Department, TREC, and HUD because my son with disabilities was struggling to cope with this insanity and we were being discriminated against by the property manager for him being special needs. We had to contact the HOA, and the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners for being falsely charged for amenities we never requested or used, and for plumbing work (we went without) that the property manager added to our account ledger in an attempt to make it impossible for me to pay rent. I was never late on my rent, but it did further deplete my savings. My children have been traumatized by this, and we can no longer stay living in the home for our mental health and physical well-being. I have had to reach out to counselors to help my children process what has transpired, and let my son's medical care go into collections so that we could stay afloat as we do not receive assistance from the state for food or my other bills. My 18-year-old is starting her second year of college (she graduated high school and started college at 17!) and we really need help with the expense to move.
Thank you for your help!
