Help a Disabled Mother, Father, and Baby Build a New Life After Overcoming Domestic Violence and Homelessness

My name is Star, and I’m a 25-year-old disabled mother, striving to build a future for my 10-month-old daughter and my supportive partner. Our journey has been one of unimaginable hardship, perseverance, and the constant battle to keep our heads above water. I’m reaching out today to ask for your help in a last-ditch effort to secure a safe and stable home for my family.

In 2022, I fled a domestic violence situation that left me, an underweight woman only 4'9 and under 90 pounds, homeless. With no one else to turn to, as I had no family left willing to help after my previous relationship that became domestic violence had me isolated from everyone . I had no friends either and severe trust issues .I found myself in a Salvation Army shelter, where I faced extreme emotional and physical abuse, hunger, and a dangerous environment that nearly drove me to suicide. I turned to an old friend for support, but instead of help, I was subjected to further abuse. This "friend" from highschool ended up trying to take advantage of me as payment for letting me sleep in his house. So I fled again. Desperate and alone, I ended up getting in contact with an old friend . He allowed me to stay in his car and we tried to navigate homelessness. Eventually one thing led to another and we fell in love .

Not long after, the car broke down for good. We eventually resorting to sleeping in a park, in the dirt . We had no income at this time other than my boyfriends small job at Taco Bell which didn't cover much in a case of pure survival. Just keeping us in a hotel used everthing . We couldn't stay often due to limited funds, and when we did stay in a hotel we had no money left for food so we slept and starved.

While living on the streets of Sacramento, California, I fought with everything I had to protect my unborn child when I found out I was pregnant in October 2023. We were homeless, but sober—one of the very few couples in our situation who were trying to stay clean and out of the destructive cycles that so many around us had fallen into. Life was exhausting, dangerous, and filled with endless challenges. But I had no choice but to keep going—for my daughter.

In a moment of desperation, I turned to social media, creating a TikTok account to document our struggles. Sharing the raw, painful truth of our lives was incredibly humiliating, but it was the only way I could see to survive. Though I faced cruel comments and threats daily, a small group of kind-hearted people reached out and sent us donations that helped us survive. We were able to buy a tent, get food sometimes, and, most importantly, keep my daughter safe as I carried her through the most challenging months of my life. Brutal valley heat, frequent starvation, lack of sleep due to harassment and living conditions on the outside, my own mental health completely in the dirt. But I kept praying and I held onto a shred of hope.

By 2024, we managed to get into transitional housing, but we were told we couldn't have the baby there. I struggle with severe back pain due to a 2016 accident, which fractured my lower lumbar and left me with ongoing, debilitating pain. I also suffer from complex PTSD and brain damage due to seizures that resulted from that fall. Despite all this, I’ve been denied disability benefits five times. Now, with no car, and our current living situation uncertain and at times hostile, gathering the necessary paperwork to reapply for disability feels almost impossible.

Still, I’m fighting. We’re fighting. I have my daughter to live for, and I know that if we can just get stable, we can build a better life.

Right now, I’m seeking help to raise money for a mobile home—a safe, secure space where we can live without fear. This will allow us to get some stability, with a place to park it and a small plot of land to start a new chapter. I’m asking for assistance with the costs of the mobile home, gas, travel expenses, land rental, and providing for our daughter in the meantime. This is my last shred of hope, and I know it’s a leap, but I believe in the possibility of a better future.

Our ultimate dream is to one day own a self-sustaining farm—growing crops, raising animals, producing honey, and building a stable life for our family. But for now, I need help to secure a home for us, a place to heal, and a future where we can thrive instead of just surviving.

Any support you can provide would mean the world to us. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and for considering helping us get back on our feet.

With gratitude and hope,

Star
