Our dear friend and Conventillo team member, Emi, recently suffered a serious fall that left her with multiple broken bones in her leg, tibia, fibula, ankle, as well as several torn ligaments. Her injuries required urgent surgery, and she is now facing a long recovery that will leave her unable to walk—and unable to work—for several months.
Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Emi knows the kind of person she is. She is warm, kind, hardworking, endlessly proactive— she is always there to lend out a hand, she brings that same warmth to everyone around her, doesn't matter if it is a coworker, a friend, or someone she has just met at the bar. We love Emi.
Today, unfortunately, she is the one who needs our help.
The medical bills ahead are enormous. Her surgery and hospital care alone are expected to cost more than $40,000, and unfortunately, insurance will not cover any of it. On top of the medical bills, she will have no way to earn her regular income during the months she is unable to work. Her family lives far away and they are unable to be here to help care for her during her recovery, making an already difficult situation even more challenging.
We are asking our friends, guests, neighbors, and the wider community to come together and help someone who has always been so willing to give her energy and kindness to others. Every contribution, no matter the amount, really really does help with her medical expenses, living costs, and basic needs while she focuses on healing and getting back on her feet.

Emi, ser querido y parte del equipo de Conventillo, sufrió hace algunos días una caída grave que le provocó múltiples fracturas en la pierna, tibia, perone, tobillo, además de rotura de ligamentos. Hubo que hacer cirugía de urgencia y ahora enfrenta una recuperación larga que la dejará sin poder caminar —y, por supuesto, sin poder trabajar— durante varios meses.
Cualquiera que haya tenido el placer de conocer a Emi sabe la clase de persona que es. Es cálida, amable, trabajadora y siempre está dispuesta a ayudar. Lleva esa misma calidez a todos los que la rodean, sin importar si es un compañero de trabajo, un amigo o alguien a quien acaba de conocer en el bar. Queremos muchísimo a Emi.
Hoy, lamentablemente, es ella quien necesita nuestra ayuda.
Los gastos médicos que tiene por delante son enormes. Solo la cirugía y la atención hospitalaria se estima que son mas de $40,000, y desafortunadamente el seguro no cubre ninguno de esos costos. Además de las facturas médicas, Emi no podrá generar sus ingresos habituales durante los meses en los que no pueda trabajar. Su familia vive lejos y no puede estar acá para acompañarla y ayudarla durante su recuperación, haciendo que una situación ya muy difícil sea todavía más complicada.
Estamos pidiendo a nuestros amigos, clientes, vecinos y a toda la comunidad que nos ayuden a apoyar a una persona que siempre ha estado tan dispuesta a compartir su energía, su tiempo y su cariño con los demás. Cada aporte, sin importar el monto, realmente ayuda muchísimo a cubrir sus gastos médicos, sus costos de vida y sus necesidades básicas mientras ella se concentra en sanar y volver a ponerse de pie.
