The journey here at OTOLO has been littered with incredible highs, timeless memories and reminders that we are certainly heading up the correct path. As I approach 30 and the company turns two years old, the mission to expand our creative endeavors into multiple mediums has run into a tremendous hole; content creation has been stifled due to our lack of equipment and affordable resources.
As many know, we are a DIY bunch....
- write treatments and direct our own music videos
- write/produce/engineer original records for ourselves at Hippie Tribe and various artist clients
- build and operate 'Gullah Gullah Studios', our recording studio, produce and host our talkshow 'ONDA Pink Couch',
- put on and host our annual non-profit music festival 'Von King Woodstock' which funds our breakfast program and back-to-school supply drive, etc.
...and as an indie label, funding these feats has been no small accomplishment. And while we are grateful for what we've been able to achieve, we understand now that if we aren't reliant on others for their a/v equipment, we'd be able to generate and distribute the different facets of our content at a much higher rate. Having that ability will only lead to higher engagement, which brings more exposure and ultimately, more opportunities.
In order to take these next steps, we need a high-powered hybrid camera that will allow us to move much more fluid. The Canon EOS R6 is a fantastic choice for DIY creators because while it's high powered enough to deliver commercial quality images, the price point associated makes it an affordable option for those serious about enhancing their videos and photos.
We are in the age of digital media and although our main endeavors still include music, film, fashion and literature, short-form content is the gateway to getting eyes and ears to those projects. This camera will catapult us in terms of quality and quantity, again leading to more opportunities in the near future.
