I want JUSTICE, AWARENESS & ACCOUNTABILITY for Monte (JAAM)
Hello, I'm Adimika "Mika", AaMonte "Monte" Hadley's Mom aka "Mommy!" On September 3rd I received the most devastating and crushing news a mother never wants to hear. My daughter was found in bed in the San Francisco county jail "unresponsive."
Immediately I fell to the ground in disbelief of what I was hearing. I managed to gather all of my belongings to leave work and drive home. I still don't know HOW I even made it home safely (considering I work in another city away from home). I just kept thinking all night "what am I going to do without my baby girl?"
I admired AaMonte for living in her truth as a member of the LGBTQ+. I embraced my daughters boldness and loved how she loved herself enough for coming out! I keep hearing her sing her songs she wrote over and over in my head. Sometimes I hum my favorite gospel song of hers. Her warmth and love was always displayed . She was my "AFI" baby, meaning she was very spiritual. She surrounded me with her love ALWAYS and cared so MUCH for my well-being. She showed up for her brothers, family and friends. Anything AaMonte put her mind to doing from softball, soccer, playing guitar, basketball, dancing and singing her beautiful heart out, she did it so passionately and with ease!
We still have no answers to Monte's cause of death and the SF DA office has afforded no interest in providing any answers. Were just told "it's an ongoing investigation... I ask for those who are in support to help us fight for a answers, investigate the death of my healthy 22 year old daughter. What happened to Monte? Why did she sit over 2 years with no conviction, denied both bond and mental health diversion!
While nothing will bring Monte back, I owe it to my babygirl and our communities, to fight for justice and collectively ensure effective changes are in place to ensure, no one else has to die like this and without answers for the family.
