Four years ago, I made a decision to protect my safety.
In 2021, I bought a used Jeep Cherokee while I was still working in an area where my abuser — and his entire support system — lived. I needed a vehicle that wouldn’t be recognizable at my remote work site, even though it meant taking on a loan I could only barely afford at the time. That Jeep gave me freedom and peace of mind during an incredibly difficult chapter of my life.
Now, four years later, I’m taking a year off to complete my dissertation and prepare for a move back east — a full life reset. Unfortunately, I’m still upside down on the Jeep loan, and the car has started showing signs of age. If something major goes wrong or when it’s time to move, I’d like to be in a position where selling or trading it in won’t create a financial crisis.
I’m asking for help to get out from under this burden so I can focus on finishing my degree and starting fresh. Any amount makes a difference. Thank you for helping me turn the page on this chapter of my life.
