Hi Everyone,
About two years ago our friend and colleague Matt started experiencing pain in his right hand. After a long and expensive series of physical therapists, sports medicine doctors, hand specialists, occupational therapists, cortisone shots, novocain shots, hyaluronic acid shots, and a whole slew of experimental treatments, a doctor finally gave Matt a diagnosis of a dislocated carpometacarpal thumb joint, which can be corrected with surgery.
At the end of May and beginning of June, Matt had two surgeries to repair the issue in his hand, and the prognosis is good! He is, however, unable to work at all for the duration of his recovery. I'm hoping we as a community can help him cover rent, bills, and expenses for the next two-to-three months while he gets his hand back in working order.
Matt is an excellent guitarist and he is also kind and generous friend. He's worked extremely hard to continue to be able to play while receiving all kinds of treatments for his hand, even though the pain has been limiting and at times debilitating.
The two years of treatment have already been a massive financial burden for him. He’s exhausted the Entertainment Community Fund, MusicCares, and the Musician’s Health Foundation. He’s lost his musician’s union health insurance due to being unable to work enough and is about to run out of unemployment benefits, so any amount you are able to give will be a huge help, as will sharing this fundraiser.
Thank you so much for reading,
skyler
