Let me apologize right away for how long this story is.
Before May 1st I was working a great job that I loved and making enough money to live on and have some in savings. Then I became sick... real sick. It caused me to lose the job that I loved, but I was stubborn and thought I was okay. It wasn't until I needed to be taken to the urgent care and they informed me I had severe pneumonia, sepsis, and possibly cancer. I was given a 50% change of surviving and was taken by ambulance to be checked into the hospital. I still did not feel I was that seriously sick until I self-checked myself out of the hospital and was driven home. The hospital, Midwest Regional, was a horrible hospital and healthcare workers told me to get out of there, The mistake I made was not checking myself in a different hospital.
I could barely walk very far without being winded or passing out due to the lack of oxygen. My doctor chewed me out for removing myself from the hospital and sent me to the emergency room, who told me I still had pneumonia in my left lung and that I had lung cancer, then sent me home.
I was bedridden for months and could not walk very far or even drive. One day I was walking outside and was winded so much that an ambulance needed to be called. I discovered I did NOT have cancer, but my left lung was horribly scarred that they kept thinking I still had pneumonia. I later found out the scarring was from the couple of times of having pleurisy. I did apply for disability, but I was able to get a job, so I never followed through with it, so it was denied. Unfortunately, I became sick again that lasted a week, so I ended up losing that job.
My savings and 401K were completely gone by September. I began driving for Uber and Lyft which helped paid the bills until the engine in my car had broken a piston rod. Although the engine was under warranty, I started falling behind in my bills. I looked for other work but the ones I could find required me being on my feet, and I would lose my breath just walking from my car to the grocery store.
My rent was getting behind along with my other bills, and I was served with a court notice for a possible eviction. Every bit of money my landlord asked for I was able to pay him with the help of family and friends, but he still took me to court. I did contact a disability attorney, and we are working on my disability claim, but it can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. I went to court today and I need to come up with money that I would never be able to make doing Uber or Lyft. I need to come up with $2,300 by the 20th of March, plus another $1,550 by March 31.
I am working as much as my health will let me so I can stay. I am also selling all my tools since my health will not let me use them anymore, but I found out recently that it is almost impossible to sell anything on Facebook Marketplace. I will need to go to different avenues to sell what tools I have. I want to have a garage sale either, but a garage sale will likely not earn me enough for me to stay here.
My kids do not have the room to put me up and I don't want to be homeless. I can't even move my items by myself and would end up losing them in the foreclosure. I am willing to do just about anything to make this work and stay in my home. My rent is currently at an amount I could normally pay since rent has gone up everywhere else.
If I could please ask for help and I will return any favors, just ask me what you need. Thank you.
