I am putting this fundraiser together for Nick Spirito, a woodwind repairman in the Long Beach area.  He has visibility in the Long Beach and Orange County (California) music scene as the repairer of woodwind instruments, and many professional saxophonists and woodwind doublers have been utilizing Nick's repair service for a few decades now.  Covid-19 came in 2020, and business slowed way down for many working musicians (Ex. performers at Disneyland), and this naturally affected Nick's business.  He operates off the grid, using a single car garage (from his humble apartment) as his repair workshop.  He actually does not even own a computer, email address, website, or a cell phone.  His business has been barely surviving through word-of mouth news.  In the last couple of years, Nick has not been able to afford his rent payments.  I visited him on 11/11/2023, and he informed me that he is now being evicted from his apartment, from where he's had his business for numerous years.  He was very distraught and doesn't know what to do next.  He is on the brink of homelessness.  I am hoping to raise $2500 for him, and trying to spread the word that someone might be able to host him in a spare bedroom. Thank you for your kind consideration!   Sincerely, Edward Peffer

Hello everyone!  I wanted to thank you all so much for your support for Nick Spirito.  Through your financial efforts, we have been able to lift the eviction notice for Nick!  We are also looking into getting Nick more work to support himself, such as overflow work from Gilmore Music in Long Beach, as well as Jim's Music Center in Irvine. Special thanks to Gary Gould and Paul Navidad, for supporting the fundraiser on their Facebook show.  I wanted to also thank the most recent donors, including Jimmy Emerzian, Jeff Nichols, Cynthia and Anders Swanson, Thom Branch, Wesley Brown, Martha Kuraj Oseland, the Bicknell Family, Mike Whitman, Mike Binyon, and the many other donors.

Next steps?  I will start transferring funds to cash things out, and pick a day next week to deliver the cash to Nick Spirito directly.  (We have raised $4250 through this fundraiser).   On another note, I was able to connect Nick with his sister and brother-in-law, and they are continuing the efforts, including paying off Nick's utility bills, and handling the payoff of Nick's landlord.  I will keep the fundraiser site open until at least the end of the month, and any additional monies I will deliver directly to Nick.  Thank you again for your support!  I hope you all have a very nice Christmas and holiday season!   Sincerely, Ed Peffer

Hello my friends!  Thank you so much for your generosity so far.  I received more details of Nick's circumstances, and it's a bit worse than I thought.  His landlord has been very lenient with him with Nick missing the rent payments, and he actually owes close to $16,000.  My good friend Gary Gould is helping me fundraise and raise awareness my selling T shirts (with the proceeds going directly to Nick Spirito).  Stay tuned for more updates.  Thanks again for your help! Gary and I are trying to prevent Nick from becoming homeless and by raising these funds, the money will go directly to Nick so that he can pay off his landlord, continuing living at his current apartment, and so that he can continuing working in the shop, performing repairs to woodwind instruments.  The support has been awesome so far, and thank you for your generosity!
