Meet Winnie! The sweetest 4 year old I’ve ever had the honor of raising! Winnie was born with Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus, Chiari II malformation and neurogenic bladder and bowels.
We’ve used this platform in the past to raise money for specific items, just recently the cutest pink adaptive bike! I’m setting this up as a general fund now just to help with everyday expenses. We’ve recently been in and out of the hospital several times in a very short timeframe. Insurance stopped paying for Winnie’s sole source nutrition formula a few months back and while we’ve managed to switch to plain oat milk it’s coming apparent that she’s not getting everything she needs from her current limited diet. We’re looking for long term solutions that would require surgery but in the meantime we will be paying for her formula out of pocket.
With the current political climate we never know what’s going to go next unfortunately. We’ve incurred more out of pocket fees in the last year than we have the previous 3 years combined.
Other out of pocket costs are diapers, suppositories, catheter supplies as well as any adaptive equipment that insurance doesn’t cover (such as the adaptive bike).
