Three years ago, our lives changed forever when Jason, my partner of 25 years, suffered a spinal cord injury that left him quadriplegic. Since then, I've been his sole caregiver, witnessing firsthand the resilience and courage with which he faces each day. But recently, a series of events have turned our world upside down again. I had to undergo surgery and, during my recovery, social services intervened, deciding Jason needed to be placed in their care temporarily. We were assured he could return home once I was well enough to care for him again, but coming back has been anything but simple.
For two decades, Jason, our son, and I have lived in his mother's home, which holds countless memories. Now, Jason’s brother, the executor of the estate, has decided to evict us, leaving us scrambling to pack up 20 years of our lives without any funds, storage, or new place to go. It breaks my heart to think of Jason away from home, especially after an accident in his current care led to an amputation surgery. Every day he spends away from home is a day too long, and I am desperate to bring him back to the love and comfort he deserves.
I’ve been tirelessly sorting through our belongings, figuring out how to manage this overwhelming transition. It's a race against time, filled with anxiety and uncertainty, but giving up is not an option. Jason belongs at home, where I can ensure he receives the care and dignity he deserves. This journey is challenging, but it's also a testament to the strength of our love. We need help to find a new place to call home, where Jason can continue to live with hope, surrounded by family and familiar comforts.
