Our sweet Cash, our 2-year-old boxer, has been fighting for his life after ingesting a wild mushroom that was growing in the grass. Something so small. Something so easy to overlook. Yet it has changed everything.
What started as vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and lethargy quickly became a race against time. We learned he had likely ingested one of the most dangerous mushrooms there is—one containing amatoxin, a toxin that attacks the liver and can become fatal within days if enough is consumed.
Cash’s prognosis is still very serious.
His liver values are off the charts. His blood has struggled to clot. He’s required multiple plasma transfusions just to give him a chance at the next procedure that could help remove the toxins and lessen the damage to his liver. Even then, there are no guarantees.
We want to give him a fighting chance. If you are so inclined and would like to donate to the cause, we will forever be in your gratitude. Proceeds raised will go to costs associated with his care including blood transfusions conducted., specialty procedures, hospital care.
We also hope to raise awareness to the dangers of plants and mushrooms to pets and humans.
