Urgent Escape

After nearly two and a half years of living with my family of seven amidst catastrophic conditions, under the weight of bombing, repeated displacement, hunger, thirst, disease, and the denial of travel and escape, a ceasefire came into effect.

We tried to resume our normal lives, but we couldn't. Our house was destroyed, and there are no building materials to rebuild it. We are still living on its ruins, without electricity, water, or sanitation.

Our health has deteriorated, and there are no hospitals or medicine to treat us. My mother has undergone two surgeries, and my younger siblings contracted hepatitis due to the lack of water and the absence of a clean environment. They also suffered from skin and respiratory diseases.

Despite the difficult circumstances, I excelled in my high school exams, achieving a 95.7% average. I enrolled in online university studies, but I am struggling to continue due to power outages and the lack of internet access.

My younger siblings couldn't attend the schools that were destroyed, and now spend most of their time searching for water and gathering firewood to cook whatever food we can find.

We have the right to live with dignity and lead normal lives, without having to wait for hours for bread or a few liters of water. We have the right to sleep without fear of animals that might invade our homes or the reptiles and insects that surround us.

That's why we decided to travel. The positive aspect is that the Rafah crossing has opened and will allow us to leave. The negative aspect is that those controlling the Rafah crossing are demanding exorbitant sums to let us go. We are a large family—my father, mother, and my four younger siblings. After spending a considerable amount of money over the past three years, we no longer have the funds to travel.

With your help, we can travel, restore our normal lives and health, return to school, and live with dignity.
