I’m starting this fundraiser to support a dear family who is facing an incredibly difficult and overwhelming season.
Their daughter has recently been diagnosed with PANDAS, a rare and often misunderstood autoimmune condition that can cause sudden and severe neurological and behavioral changes in children. Because PANDAS is still not widely recognized, very few doctors truly understand how to diagnose and treat it effectively. The specialists who do have the necessary experience are limited—and unfortunately, extremely expensive.
To make matters more challenging, the family’s insurance coverage is very limited, meaning much of the care, evaluations, and treatment must be paid for out of pocket.
As they navigate this medical journey together, the family has also experienced significant financial hardship creating additional stress and making it more difficult to get to medical appointments, manage work schedules, and handle daily responsibilities.
Both mom and dad are doing everything they can to advocate for their daughter—researching treatment options, coordinating care, and supporting their entire family—while trying to stay afloat financially during an incredibly stressful time.
This GoFundMe is meant to help ease some of that burden.
Funds raised will help cover:
- Appointments with PANDAS specialists
- Medical evaluations and treatment costs
- Transportation needs
- Basic living expenses while the family focuses on healing
