Please help support a young girls talent on her journey through the arts. Empress is a 10 year old anomaly who exhibited a natural talent in ballet . When she was a baby her flexibility went unnoticed. The positions she would sit in just to watch a movie were uncomfortable for the average person. She would be observed eating popcorn in a pretzel-like position. She started dancing ballet at 8 years old and studied youtube daily and was fascinated with pointe. She was determined she would wear pointe shoes and everyday she studied and strengthened her feet, by the summer (8 months later) under instruction of Miss. Robins of Uptown Dance Academy (a renowned Harlem dance instructor) her feet were tested and she was able to dance in pointe. Every audition she attends she has been picked. She currently attends an highly competitive elementary school that combines Ballet curriculum with academics (in which she also auditioned for). She has a high esteem and confidence when it comes to ballet and she is very focused and competitive .
As we know the arts world in the New York City area can come with a financial plunge to many families and sometimes it can keep talented children from pursuing their dreams . Empress just got accepted into Alvin Ailey Pre-professional dance program and I would like to take a proactive approach to help her on her dance journey and ensuring she never has to stop dancing because of lack of finances.
