Sacramento!
I’m Josh Emmett, a professional fighter in the UFC currently ranked #8 in the world in the Featherweight Division. At this time though, like most of you, I am a Sacramento resident affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. I am aware of the unprecedented circumstances this pandemic has imposed on our city, and I am so excited to be the team leader for Feed the Frontlines 916 in the #RaiseForSac campaign.
By donating to Feed the Frontlines 916, you will help fuel the extraordinary efforts of Sacramento’s healthcare workers while also supporting our local restaurants and their employees. With your support, we hope to see the other side of this crisis.
Best wishes,
Josh Emmett
Donations go directly to local restaurants feeding frontline workers.
Our team of volunteers takes no administrative fees. Initial donations will be directed to the University of California Davis Medical Center, Sutter Medical Center, and Mercy General Hospital, emergency medical services, and the physician offices supporting the hospitals. We hope to extend to other hospitals in Sacramento with additional donations.
The COVID-19 pandemic has shut down many of our local restaurants, while healthcare professionals continue to work on the frontlines to keep us all safe. Sponsored by your generosity, Feed the Front Lines 916 supports restaurants in the neighborhood of the hospitals by creating opportunities for their employees to prepare and distribute pre-paid meals for hospital workers around our city.
The first meals were delivered to Sacramento Women's Health and Sutter Medical Center OB Unit from the Limelight on March 28th as a philanthropic effort by Judy Mikacich, MD, and her partners at Sacramento Women's Health to show appreciation for the teams' efforts and related stress around this crisis. To date, we have commitments for 750 meals to the local community. The Limelight Bar & Cafe is using an award from the Emergency Response Micro-Grant Program for Sacramento Restaurants and Bars to launch this program.
Please join the fight against COVID-19 and make a donation, big or small. Every dollar counts.
We hope you will join us in this effort to keep Sacramento frontline workers healthy and well-fed and restaurant workers employed! Thank you again for your support! We are all in this together and look forward to doing something positive during this crisis.
**Our inspiration for the program is FeedtheFrontlinesnyc.org founded by a family in New York that faced similar challenges to our family business at The Limelight Bar & Café locally. They currently have sister cities that launched similar efforts around the country (Miami, Boston), in California (Marin, Orange County), and internationally (Toronto). We are thrilled that Kru and ‘OBO (with gift cards currently) joined us in the efforts to feed the frontlines, and we hope to bring on other area restaurants as needed.**
“The solidarity that we feel from the community as we battle this awful disease is the morale booster that we all need to help us keep showing up at the front lines.” – Dr Richard Kaplon, Chairman, Department of Cardiology/Cardiovascular Surgery, Mercy General Hospital
