I Lost Everything I Own… But I Still Have My Dogs and My Fight. ❤️🩹
My heart is broken.
After fighting a terrifying storm with 45-knot winds and massive 20-foot seas, my 43-foot blue water sailboat — my home, my dream, everything I owned — was destroyed on a C@@@ reef. I watched years of sacrifice disappear in front of my eyes.
The boat that was supposed to carry me and my three Belgian Malinois to a quieter life in Central America is gone. All my tools, scuba gear, sailing equipment, electronics, clothing, and precious memories… lost, taken, or destroyed. I now have nothing left except the clothes I was wearing and the love of my dogs.
But we are alive.
During those horrifying hours, I bailed water nonstop, treating every exhausting bucket like a Spartan burpee. When the sails shredded and the engine died, I made the gut-wrenching decision to steer toward the reef and mangroves — choosing possible survival over certain death. My three babies — Azov, Luna, Zlata, and Sici Tutu — wore their life vests and stayed pressed against me as the boat was thrown across the coral. They got seasick. They were terrified. But they trusted me… and we made it.
These dogs are my entire world. They’ve been with me through 26 countries, through war zones in Ukraine where I ran a nonprofit delivering aid, and now through the worst storm of my life. They are the reason I stayed unbreakable.
In the immigration detention center, I wore my Spartan shirt every single day. “Be Unbreakable. Resilience. Discipline. Focus.” I turned the pain into a mental game — pretending MrBeast was filming my survival, smiling every time villagers brought me fish or lobster. It kept me going when everything else was taken.
The C@@@@ people were incredibly kind and caring. The villagers risked trouble to help fix my engine and bring us food. But the officials told me clearly: this was because of Trump and Marco Rubio. They said American policies took their oil and fuel, so they took everything from me — an American sailor who arrived with three Malinois. They blamed Trump and Rubio for the suffering of ordinary C@@@@ I saw it with my own eyes: people with almost nothing, stuck because of politics far beyond their control.
My family has deep roots in c@@@@. My great-uncle was a brilliant doctor who served before the Revolution. He lost everything too. Now, decades later, history repeated itself with me.
I’m exhausted. I’m heartbroken. But I’m not defeated.
I need help to rise again. I need another boat so I can continue this life with my dogs — the only family I have. America has become too expensive for many retired people like me. I was looking for a simpler way… and instead I lost it all.
