Last Saturday cousin Annie woke up to find that her bedroom had been filling with gnarly city water all through the night. Her basement apartment had become a LITERAL POND. Annie single handedly mopped up the bonkers amount of water using every towel, sheet, and blanket she owned (the train lines were down and so she couldn’t even get to Home Depot to get a shop vac). She then spent the rest of her weekend tirelessly mopping, cleaning, and doing 9 loads of laundry. CAN YOU IMAGINE DOING 9 LOADS OF LAUNDRY IN ONE WEEKEND AT A LAUNDROMAT?
While Annie was physically unharmed, her belongings were not so lucky. As we Know Annie has a talent for and a passion for fashion. She spent years working on curating her collection, but has lost heaps of clothing, shoes, and bags she loved. She also lost sheets, bedding, rugs, some appliances, makeup, all her winter coats/hats/scarfs/boots and a friggin laptop! But wait, the story gets worse!! Annie then showed up to work to find that the store she manages had also been totally flooded. Annie said “my mom always said fire is more forgiving than flood” <--- You gotta love her positive spirit, but damn this whole ordeal must SUCK.
I’m hoping that we can come together to support Annie with a little $$ to ease the burden of the cost of flood recovery and the few hundred dollars worth of damaged belongings she lost. Annie pretty much never asks people for help, but I know she will appreciate this. Please donate if you can and share this with friends and family who may want to help!
P.S. Annie has some nuts video footage of the flood but I can't figure out how to put that in this post so please accept this photograph that kinda gives the vibe.
