Every morning as the sun rises over Cookeville, Debbie Whittaker finds herself waking up in a tent, facing another day of uncertainty. At 67 years old, navigating life without the comfort of a home is a struggle I could never truly understand. Yet, Debbie greets each day with remarkable strength.
Despite being on a waitlist for housing, she's still far from securing a stable place to call home. The relentless summer heat adds to her daily challenges, testing her resilience in ways that are hard to imagine.
I am moved by Debbie's determination; it reminds me of her unwavering spirit that has always inspired those around her. But, as much as she perseveres, the need for a safe and stable environment is growing more urgent with each passing day.
We aim to gather support to help Debbie bridge this difficult period until she can move into secure housing. The thought of seeing her relieved from this exhausting uncertainty fills me with hope.
