Jaunita Sheppard is my aunt. My late dads is her sister.
Aunt Nita is 92 years old, and she has lost her memory and can no longer live on her own. She recently lived in an independent senior apartment, but because of her rapidly fading memory, she left the water on and flooded the place, then she fell and was in the apartment alone and couldn't get up. We were trying to call her and she didn't answer the phone, so we sent a cousin that lived on the property to check on her. My 92-year-old aunt dragged herself to the door and opened it. My cousin helped her up and sat her in a chair. She was taken to an emergency clinic because the hospitals were full. Her stepson and his wife tried to help but they had to work, so I picked up my aunt, but her ankle started swelling and turning purple. I took her to ER.
My aunt could not go back to live in her apartment alone, and there was nowhere to take care of her, and because I had my mom that was going through illness and she was also having falling issues, plus there was no room, my other cousin had her husband in a wheelchair that she was taking care of.
The hospital admitted her to run further tests etc., which was a blessing! We found a place for the hospital to discharge her to, but they will only be able to keep her for 20 days.
My aunt is on social security, and she has health insurance but it is not enough to support her in an assistant living. She has to have rehabilitation to walk better so she will not fall, she needs memory care, and 24-hour care because of her memory so she will eat on time and take her meds.
Aunt Nita is so sweet and just a delight to be around, please help me raise funds to give her a permanent place to stay until God calls her home.
Thank you for your kindness,
Pam Jones
