On March 15, 2026 our 9 year old son, Arrow, had a sudden episode of severe chest pain, shortness of breath, sweating and got extremely pale. Our life has been flipped upside down ever since.
For those who don’t know, Arrow has a very complex medical history and has been through more in his 9 years than most people do their entire life. Arrow had a feeding tube placed last fall, he has multiple severe food allergies including a rare condition called FPIES, juvenile arthritis, epilepsy, developmental delays, chronic lower body muscle pain/weakness and he is immunocompromised just to name a few of his major struggles in his daily life.
Since March, we have been working closely with Arrows medical team due to reoccurrence of this type of event and newly found cardiac concerns. He now has a Loop Recorder implant which has shown his cardiologist multiple sudden episodes of sinus arrest(his heart pausing) lasting 5-7 seconds. They are also seeing an incredibly wide range of heart rates, but discovered Arrows heart rate tends to be much lower (bradycardia) than it should be on average. And is consistently beating in a very irregular rhythm.
Due to these ongoing and significant symptoms Arrow is now scheduled to have a electrophysiology study and pacemaker placement this summer.
Arrow’s dad and myself have missed so much time from work due to his unpredictable episodes, recovery, and multiple trips to his specialist team which is a 6 hour round trip drive from our home. We are struggling to stay afloat even more so now, as we know many of you are as well with the prices of groceries and gas rising. Arrow will have approximately 8 weeks of recovery after his procedure and need assistance with all tasks for most of that time frame to ensure his body heals properly. Which will ultimately result in an unknown amount of time missed from work for our family, and likely time missed from the beginning of the school year for Arrow as well.
We are hoping to raise enough money to take a little bit of anxiety and stress off our shoulders by helping us continue paying our basic necessities such as rent, food and travel expenses while we continue to care for Arrow. If possible we would also love to make the most of the time Arrow has to enjoy summer break before his surgery and take him to Lego Land NY for a fun family day-trip!
We greatly appreciate all of the love and support each of you has shown our family over the years and continue to show for our little boy. #LevelUpArrowsHeart
