David Kirk Kelley, son, father, friend, brother and family to many, met his Heavenly Father on October 12, 2021. David truly broke the mold and was a man who stood up and showed up.
David had many passions over his lifetime from cars to disc golf to real estate. His love to others was infectious and he never met a stranger. He had the ability to talk to anyone and a confidence that entered a room before he did. His smile and laughter were contagious. He was, and always will be, “the person” for so many. David made anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him want to be better. He inspired.
David grew his family, his “Crew”, no matter where he went. He held tight to good people from his Crew in Houston to his Legacy family and childhood friends. He saw everyone’s worth and made it his mission for them to see it within themselves.
David was preceded in death by his father, Jim Kelley, and stepfather, David Cunningham.
David is survived by many loved ones.
His mother, Nancy Cunningham, was his confidante. David shared and entrusted so much with her. Nancy raised a true man and a gentleman.
His older daughter, Saira Kelley Barron (lil face), filled her father’s footsteps and picks up on his Legacy. She is just as strong and kind as her father and is a true force.
His younger daughter, Kyndel Kelley (Goose), shares his humor and taste. She rode shotgun on many adventures with him. Her love for the arts was molded by her father and the stars await her arrival.
His granddaughter, Miranda Rhea Barron (Randa Roo), can make the most intellectual man be lost for words with her intelligence. Her kindness and tenderness, that has been passed down from generation to generation, is apparent.
His partner in life and second chance, Katrina Sharp, lit a fire in his soul and kept him smiling. It is not often that two people can part ways and pick back up two decades later like no time has passed at all. David was truly complete since Kat and her daughter Abby came back into his life. His love and legacy will live on through her dedication to his girls.
His best friend and “twin brother” for over twenty-eight years, Craig Kendall, will carry on the Dad jokes for his girls and will always be an Uncle for them to lean on.
His countless friends, who will forever be like family, will miss him dearly. The rest of the Houston Crew: Anna, Matt, Teresa, Stuart and many others will support each other and his girls always.
His Legacy family, Misti Bruton and his “brother” Todd Spencer, inspired David and gave him a newfound purpose over the last decade.
So many real estate agents, childhood and college friends will forever be family.
The immediate family thanks everyone for the outpouring of love, prayers, kindness and stories already shared.
All that knew David, knew that crying simply wouldn’t work. Only laughter, making memories and great stories would honor a man of his stature. The immediate family welcomes all that knew David to a Celebration of Life being held on: November 14th at Comanche Country Ranch, Lockhart, TX. Please feel free to come early, any formal words will be noonish and then stay as long as you wish to visit. Although we know there will be tears, be prepared to laugh and honor his memory.
In lieu of flowers and cards, and with great thought of who mattered most to David, a trust fund has been set up for “his girls”. Should you feel compelled to donate, you may do so at http://spot.fund/6GMfdh
Never goodbye......always see you later.
