Hi everyone,
My name is Anamaria Zambrano. Nearly 10 years ago, I met my amazing and beautifully talented dance choreographer Narayani Maharaj at a fundraising event in Florida International University. When she performed one of her choreographies on stage, I fell in love with what I saw. Eager to learn, I began attending her dance classes at Belly Motions, a dance company developed by my friend and mentor Portia Lange, which was dedicated to empowering people through dance. Ever since then, I’ve been hooked.
Over the years, I’ve developed lifelong friendships and some of my most treasured experiences. When I developed a chronic illness that rendered me too sick to work or go to school, dancing Bollywood was the only thing that kept me sane. Through all of our personal and shared challenges, Narayani always tried her best to give us every opportunity to share the stage and grow together as a team.
In the past 2 years, Narayani developed her own dance company, Nara Bollywood Dance Academy and our team began to expand. Today, Narayani is hard at work again to put together a dance recital for our families, friends and our community, so they may experience the magic of Indian dance for themselves.
On October 7th, 2023, Nara Bollywood Dance Academy’s first ever recital is to take place in the Lehman Theatre in Miami, Florida. This may be Narayani’s biggest project yet as the founder of this incredible company, and, even though she’s never asked me or anyone to help her without anything in return, I know she could use our help. Like with any creative project, a dance requires lots of teamwork and any financial support we can get, which is why I ask for your help to fund this beautiful production.
