Asalās impact to the world: Asal touched countless lives through both her personal warmth and her extraordinary professional impact. She was not only a beloved friend, but also a tireless advocate for those facing some of lifeās most difficult battles.
As a former White House Senior Advisor on Health Outcomes and Cancer for the Moonshot Initiative, Asal played a vital role in advancing a national effort to reduce cancer deaths and improve the lives of patients and their families. She was deeply committed to increasing early detection, addressing health disparities, and pushing forward research to help end cancer as we know it.
Beyond her work at the national level, Asal was a powerful voice in the cancer community. She spoke at countless medical conferences, passionately advocating for greater funding and awarenessāespecially for early-stage colon cancer, which is increasingly affecting younger populations. Her work as a consultant with Colorectal Cancer Alliance further amplified her impact, helping to educate and empower patients and families.
Driven by her unwavering dedication, Asal co-founded CRCC Change alongside her close friend, David Hicks, to expand awareness and support for those impacted by colon cancer. She fought tirelessly for underrepresented communities and anyone in need of a helping hand.
Her advocacy extended beyond healthcare. Whether working on Capitol Hill or serving as a Senior Advisor on Senator Klobucharās Presidential Campaign, Asal championed fairness, justice, and opportunity for all. For nearly a decade, Asal also served as the Director of Government Affairs for amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, where she championed critical policies and funding to advance HIV/AIDS research and support affected communities. Her passion, courage, and selflessness defined everything she did.
Asalās legacy is one of strength, compassion, and meaningful change. Her voice and impact will continue to inspire so many.
