Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read my story.
For a long, long time, my father has been there for my grandmother (his mother). Things were not always the greatest between them when he was younger, but over the past decade, they have grown nearly inseparable. After a long day of working as a welder for a good company, my dad would visit her, and they would spend hours talking, watching her favorite game shows, and making sure she was comfortable before he left.
My grandmother, despite being as strong spirited as she was, fell ill. My father did his best to take care of her when he could, but the commute from his home to hers made it difficult. He left his place he was renting behind in order to live with her and care for her nearly full time. When he woke up, he was there when she needed it. From the time that he got home from work till the time she fell asleep after being tucked in, he was there for her. For months he did this for her.
Two weeks ago, my father called an ambulance for my grandma. He was there to comfort her as she passed. She wasn't alone. God was with her, and her loving son was with her.
During the time they shared her house, she knew that arrangements would need to be made. She wanted the house to stay with my father as he no longer had a home to go to. My dad, his sister D, and his brother Dan were not opposed. They wanted what my grandmother wanted. However, his brother Dave, has other intentions.
I ask for help in my father's stead because he is too stubborn to ask for help in his time of need. My uncle, his brother Dave, wants to sell the house to make a quick buck. My grandmother wanted the house to stay in the family. My father doesn't want to see the possessions of my grandmother thrown out as if her life never existed. Unfortunately, my father needs the funds to purchase the remainder of the home, as well as the funds to pay off Dave's share.
The thought that my grandmother is looking down on my father knowing that he is willing to do whatever it takes to do what is right by her gives me hope that everything will turn out okay. Every little bit helps, and I thank you again.
